Projects and events supporting research
Music
Music was part of Inés’s life from an early age. She played the piano and saxophone and especially enjoyed sharing music with those around her. It therefore became a natural way for us to come together, remember her and turn affection into support for research.
Since 2023, the EHU Orkestra Sinfonikoa and its artistic director, Doru Artenie, have collaborated with the Association on benefit concerts held at the Sociedad Filarmónica de Bilbao. The Christmas concerts have been joined by choral programmes featuring EHU Abesbatza, Bilbao Kamerata, soloists and other collaborating musicians.
Their contribution helps keep Inés’s memory alive while supporting research into rare and uncommon tumours.

Literature and Outreach
Paseos sonoros, written by Mercedes Albaina, brings together literature, music and a commitment to supporting research. The author has donated the proceeds from her royalties to the Association, helping to fund research into rare and uncommon tumours. The book has been presented through talks, reader events and book signings.

Tennis and football were a big part of Inés’s life. For her, sport meant commitment, friendship and sharing the effort with others. Today, those same values inspire activities that bring together players, families and supporters around a common goal: supporting research into rare and uncommon tumours.

Sport
Since 2019, the Inés de Pablo Llorens Tennis Cup has been held every year at Club Jolaseta in Bilbao, with the support of the Basque-Navarre Tennis Federation.
The tournament brings together women’s, men’s and veterans’ competitions, keeping Inés’s connection with tennis alive while helping to raise awareness of the Association’s work.

Football
Inés’s friends from Pamplona organise this annual charity tournament in her memory. Over the years, it has brought together players, families and supporters, and has become one of the Association’s main fundraising events for its research grants.
It is also a way of keeping alive Inés’s connection with football, her friends and Pamplona.

Research Grants
Each Inés de Pablo Llorens Research Grant is also an opportunity to meet the people behind the projects and learn more about the work the grant will help make possible.
Call for applications and selection
The call for applications opens each year between March and June and is publicized, through GETTHI, via SEOM and other usual channels. The Association funds the call for applications, the evaluation process and the grant itself. A committee of experts reviews the submitted projects and selects three finalists, who present their proposals during the GETTHI Symposium. Following their evaluation, the winning project is selected.

How we raise funds
The Association raises most of its funds through fundraising activities and individual donations, both one-off and regular. These contributions allow us to keep the project moving forward and to maintain our research grants.
Laboral Kutxa and, in 2022, CaixaBank also provided occasional support for specific activities.
The funds raised help finance our research grants, as well as the Association’s outreach and prevention initiatives.
